The philosophy of caring is what the Air Force Villages are all about. Each Village operates a 24-hour-a-day Health Care Center (nursing facility) licensed by the State of Texas Department of Human Services. The Health Care Centers are under the direction of licensed Administrators.
Care of Health Care Center residents is supervised by physicians who visit the Center on a scheduled basis. Daily hands-on care is provided by licensed Village nurses and other trained care givers. The Health Care Centers' staffs include registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, nursing assistants, and full-time activity directors.

Physicians, pharmaceutical, dietary and therapy consultants augment the staff.
Physicians conduct weekly outpatient clinics for residents who live independently.
Wilford Hall Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston's Brooke Army Medical Center, Audie Murphy Memorial Veteran's Hospital, the South Texas Medical Center with its wide array of specialty care, and other area hospitals are available in case of routine medical needs or emergencies.
It is never forgotten that residents can become ill and need care. In addition, it is always remembered that nursing can be given with a caring attitude.
There are no set times for visiting hours, and visitors are encouraged to come whenever they like.
Air Force Village Is Health Care Center was the first nursing home in San Antonio to be certified as an Eden Alternative Facility!
The Air Force Village I Health Care Center is now open to any adult on a space available basis (you do not have to have prior military service).
