Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation:
Gifts that Honor Their Sacrifice.

Air Force Village opened in 1970 with a service mission: to provide excellent retirement living with access to continuing health care for retired military officers and their spouses – and to give priority to retired Air Force officer widows in need of financial assistance.

AFV continues to fulfill that mission today, helping widows who have lovingly, patiently and patriotically served alongside their husbands. And through your gifts to the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation, we are able to help widows and honor all residents – creating a quality environment that accomplishes and transcends the original mission.

Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation has created funds that allow donors to lend their support in a way that is most meaningful to them – through gifts that bring joy, advance healing, and let our heroes know that their sacrifices continue to be remembered and appreciated.

Air Force Villages Charitable Fund
This fund allows you to honor a hero where need is greatest. As we identify special needs that will enhance life for our residents, it is this fund that can help us achieve that – in social, recreational, health care, staff training and other aspects of life at Air Force Villages.

Widows-In-Need
We continue to build the Widows-In-Need Endowment so that we will never have to deny a widow’s request for assistance. And when you give to another fund to support widows – the Widows Fellowship Fund – your contributions help provide healthy meals, transportation, medication and even the thoughtful gestures you might give your own grandmother – such as a visit to the beauty salon. Assistance to widows is always provided in strict confidence to protect their dignity.

Freedom House & Alzheimer’s Research
Our general fund helps support social activities, upgrade equipment, train staff and sustain our nationally-recognized facility. It even supplies resources for our on-site childcare facility. Separate research funds support ongoing Alzheimer’s studies and a geriatric psychiatry fellowship in partnership with the University of Texas-San Antonio Health Science Center.

Health Care Services
AFV I and AFV II Health Care Centers embrace a person-centered model of care that focuses on relationships within a home-like atmosphere. Furnishings that make residents and their guests feel at home may be purchased through this fund, along with medical equipment such as whirlpools, electric lifts and therapeutic devices.

Hospice Care for Heroes
Air Force Villages is setting a higher standard for hospice care with a holistic philosophy that encompasses physical, emotional and spiritual concerns. It is here your gifts can bring comfort, peace and healing to families.
