In 2007, Freedom House, Liberty House and both our Health Care Centers earned a rare and significant "zero clinical deficiencies" assessment from the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services-honoring the exceptional facilities and care we offer. The Health Care Center at Village I was San Antonio's first skilled nursing facility to be certified as an Eden Alternative Facility-a mark of top-quality care.

The Health Care Centers at Air Force Village provide 24-hour nursing care, licensed by the State of Texas Department of Human Services. They are supervised by physicians in attendance on a regular schedule. Our skilled nursing and continuing care staff provide daily assistance, augmented by registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, nursing assistants, and pharmaceutical, dietary and therapy consultants. Our Centers have full-time activity directors. All our staff are handpicked from the top candidates in San Antonio's internationally renowned healthcare community.

The Health Center at Village I is a host site for the Galen Health Institute of Nursing, bringing in nursing students on clinical rotations to support our teams. Its rehabilitation services-available to both Villages-have achieved an incredible 90% success rate in patients regaining sufficient independence to return to their residences. A brand-new upgrade in the Village II Health Center expanded the therapy room, added new features for independent-minded seniors and made the entire facility feel even more like your own home.

And all around you, in a medical situation, you have the top military, university and public hospitals of San Antonio to help. The healthcare expertise of Wilford Hall is close by; so are Fort Sam Houston's Brooke Army Medical Center; Audie Murphy Memorial Veteran's Hospital; and the acclaimed South Texas Medical Center and University of Texas Health Science Center. The Air Force Village I Health Care Center is now open to any adult on a space available basis (you do not have to have prior military service).
