Air Force Village is a non-profit military officers' retirement community in San Antonio, Texas, dedicated to exceptional retirement living and the individual well-being of our residents. Air Force Village I, located near Lackland Air Force Base and Premier medical facilities, opened in 1970 and is home to more than 500 retired career officers from all branches of military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard), their spouses, widows and widowers. Air Force Village II, seven miles away, has grown to a vibrant neighborhood of 700 residents since its opening in 1987.
Each Village is a self-contained military retirement community with acres of well-manicured green space, lovely cottages and high-rise apartments. Residents enjoy exceptional dining, an active social life that includes more than 65 events per month, group shuttle transportation and ongoing opportunities for culture, education and travel.
We offer our residents and their families peace of mind with the assurance that a full complement of excellent health care services, including assisted living, nursing care and Alzheimer's and Dementia Care through Freedom House, is available if needed. Both AFV communities meet the highest standards of quality. Both earned national distinction in 1987 as the first military retirement community to be accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission.
Air Force Village does not receive contributions or direct financial support from the federal government. All donations come from private individuals and foundations.
